As we continue to look at God’s original design for marriage and families, the insights and thoughts of our friends and family revealed the following 12 foundation-stones for healthy marriages and families: 1) God-first, Christ-led, Holy Spirit-inspired living; 2) Commitment to the Word of God; 3) Continual and consistent prayer; 4) Unconditional love; 5) Unity and oneness; 6) Companionship; 7) Forgiveness; 8) Servanthood; 9) Protection; 10) Surrender to God; 11) Connectedness; and 12) Generational impact.
Mark 10:9 (NIV): “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate”.

Our Marriages and Families can show those in our communities what it means to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God. That’s how we build a strong, healthy nation based on strong values and principles, with God as our foundation. Let’s hold on to these Truths: God is good, faithful, and His love for each one of us, and our loved ones will never end! He is a good, good Father to us and to our families.
Micah 6:8 (AMP): “…And what does the Lord require of you – Except to be just [act justly], and to love [and to diligently practice] kindness (compassion), and to walk humbly with your God [setting aside any overblown sense of importance or self-righteousness]?”

God promises us that if we seek Him wholeheartedly, that He will be found by us!

As I have reflected on our theme around SEEKING HIM, I have pondered over a few pertinent questions: What does my calendar, my smartphone, my social media activity and my bank statement reveal about my priorities? Am I consumed with what others think of me – searching for their acceptance and approval, or am I seeking God, to glorify Him in every area of my life? What is it that we seek after the most?
1 Chronicles 22:19 (NIV): “Now devote your heart and soul to seeking the Lord your God...”

Our scripture this week is one short sentence… but packed with so much truth and importance. It’s to the point, precise, affectionate and kind. Yet, also unapologetically focused. It’s an invitation to investigate the true condition of our hearts. There’s a REQUEST, upon which a RESPONSE is required. When God ASKS of us to require His presence as our greatest need, what is our first response? Do we, earnestly, truthfully and wholeheartedly answer: “Yes Lord, the only One we SEEK is You – the King of our hearts!”
Psalm 27:8 (AMP): “When You said: “Seek My face [in prayer, require My presence as your greatest need],” my heart said to You: “Your face, O Lord, I will seek [on the authority of Your word]”.

To seek God’s face involves seizing the opportunity to have access to Him and being in His presence. Our Lord promises us that He is always with us, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20); that He will never leave or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6); and that He will be found by us when we earnestly seek Him as the Lord and King of our lives (1 Chronicles 28:9). As we conclude our theme on SEEKING GOD, let me ask you two last questions: Do you experience God’s presence in your life? Is seeking Him truly the desire of your heart?
Psalm 105:3-4 (AMP): “Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those who seek and require the Lord [as their most essential need] rejoice. Seek and deeply long for the Lord and His strength [His power, His might]; Seek and deeply long for His face and His presence continually”.

Kom ons onthou: Ons Hemelse Vader is goed en aan Sy liefde is daar geen einde nie. Hy hoor as ons bid! Hy wil die beste vir jou hê, Hy is getrou en het jou meer lief as wat jy ooit sal kan besef.
Psalm 107:1-2 (V): “Loof die Here, want Hy is goed, aan sy liefde is daar geen einde nie! So moet die mense sê wat deur die Here bevry is, dié wat Hy uit hulle nood bevry het...”

Do you trust that our Heavenly Father is your “way maker, your miracle worker, your obstacle remover?” Let’s continue to worship God as the Lord of our lives, and King over all that we do. Let’s glorify Him for straight and smooth paths before us – for making a way, even if we sometimes feel there’s no clear way through “our wilderness!”
Isaiah 40:3 (AMP): “A voice of one is calling out: Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness [remove the obstacles]; Make straight and smooth in the desert a highway for our God.”

What keeps you awake at night? What is the mountain, ocean or barrier that makes you feel like there is just no way to the other side?
Psalm 77:19 (AMP) reads: “Your way [of escape for Your people] was through the sea, and Your paths through the great waters, and Your footprints were not traceable”.
God delivered the Israelites from Egyptian slavery by removing the obstacle they faced – the red sea (Exodus 14:21-31). He created an unseen, untraceable path to the other side… Sometimes we are facing a battle – a sickness, a challenging situation, an unfulfilled desire… and we find ourselves thinking; “It’s impossible – there is no way to cross this ocean or to win this battle”. But let’s remind ourselves today: God has already prepared a path to the other side: We just need to trust Him; Wait on Him; and Follow His directions!
