Moses asked God who He is… and God replied: “I AM WHO I AM” (Exodus 3:13-14). This implies that God is who He says He is; He is our Father, our Creator. He is eternally constant and faithful. His promises stand forever. He is ever-present and unchanging. He is completely sufficient. He accomplishes what He wills.
As we enter the new year, let us remember that our Lord is God over our lives!
“Be still and know (recognise, understand) that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).

God’s promises, blessing and protection are with us always. This means that we can enter this year with joy-filled, peaceful hearts. We can rest in the presence of our Lord as we will always be at peace when we live with the realisation that God is always with us and for us.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26).

Do you sometimes think about the year ahead of you and wonder where, what, and how things are going to play out? What’s the next step? Where is this path leading me? We sometimes feel fearful about the unknown. But there is one thing that we can be confident about – our Lord is with us and He has set the path before us (Jeremiah 29:11-13). He is the Light showing us ‘where to’ next. However, we also need to get our priorities straight – we need to remember that our deepest longings will be satisfied by Jesus. The way to glorify Him in all we do is to first long and thirst for more of Him. This leads us back to the basic principle of studying, memorising and meditating on God’s Word as a key priority.
“Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Love originates in our heart, soul and mind. It’s not just an emotion, a thought or a choice. It’s represented in the way we live – the way we act. It determines our view of the world, of ourselves and of our loved ones. Love is what gives meaning to our lives.
Matthew 22:37-39 (AMP): “And Jesus replied to him, YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others]”.

How amazing to think that God, the Creator of the universe, so greatly loves and treasures us, that He calls us the “apple of His eye”. This implies that He longs to lavish us with His tender loving-kindness and care – inviting us into an intimate relationship to experience the wonder of His LOVE.
Psalm 17:8 (NIV): “Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings”.
